This will be my first post where I have not reached the end of my journey, but felt an urgency within my heart that there are other girls having these feelings. They need the comfort and assurance that they are not alone. Those of you following my blog will remember a post a while back called, “Glorious Surrender”. it was about leaving the security of your nest and becoming separated from your parents. My journey dates all the way back from that blog post. Looking back, even knowing I am not finished, I see the process as very natural and inevitable. This process brought me to a place where I was searching for something inside of me I could not seem to find. As we sometimes may think that people saying the following , ” I need to find myself” are just weird, but this is not a weird thing at all, it’s actually very normal and natural. Before I stepped into this journey I was one of the outsiders calling those people weird, and now I am weird. One of the reasons we also should not judge, we don’t know the feelings and emotions connected to what the people around us are going through. We have the job only to firmly love.
As I mentioned in my previous blog I am married and still quite young. I have moved out of my parents house straight into the married life. The thing marriage does, that is not so spoken about is that it reveals you, not in a creepy way, but in a way you have to face things you don’t want to face. This is a good thing, but in my case I was not sure if this was the right place to do it. I had to face, myself, I had to look myself in the mirror and ask myself who am I? What do I want to portray to the rest of the world and what is burning inside of my heart yearning to come out? So I became one of those weirdos telling people I am searching in every door and cabinet trying to find who I am. This journey can not be completed in a week, it’s something that takes time, you walk into the door and then come back out and then walk back in again. The point I am trying to make is it’s trying to discover what you like and what you don’t and sometimes you have to try it three times to know you don’t like what it portrays or how it makes you feel. People may think this is very dramatic and over the top, but it’s something you should not ignore. Don’t move away from something tugging at your heart just because the world sees it differently. Deal with what you are feeling and experiencing it’s the only way you will feel satisfied. And if you think about it somewhere in life you start to see things differently and then a simple thought can snowball into something big you end up discovering.
I want to be really clear on what I am about to say that this is my opinion I am not stating it as a fact it’s how I feel going through this journey and others may portray it differently. I don’t think it’s the best idea getting married and still living with your parents especially if you are still very young, like me :). I really wish that I could’ve gone through this journey before getting married, and the thing that brought me to this journey is leaving my parents home. And I don’t count studying and living in a hostel as leaving your parents home. It’s when you leave their home and become independent not relying on them every step of the way, but trying to figure things out for yourself. It builds confidence and it brings you to a place where you face yourself.
I wish I knew these things before getting married, but I didn’t and it’s ok. It’s not changing the path it’s just adjusting the scenery. I love my marriage and this is not about me not being happily married it’s about what you come to face when you leave your parents house and become your own individual. Even though I feel this is not the ideal situation to be in I am choosing to still embrace it with a good spirit and heart. This is a difficult thing to go through and as a body we should be supporting one another in these ways of life. Be the ear to listen or the hand to hug. Be the strength when one is weak, but most of all be the praying warrior the one you can not see that keep their heads up. We need to walk through the dessert to get to the refreshing wisdom. My journey is not over it barely begun, but I have to be excited about what the end result might bring. So ladies just keep moving forward and extending a hand as you go, you will reach the other side with a big smile and a satisfied heart.
And remember you are not weird!
*Thank you Lord for being the answer to a question we don’t have.
The glorious separation.
It’s been a while since my last post, it almost feels like I can’t write. A lot has been going on and there is quite a lot to share, but I will try and keep it short and sweet. I have traveled with my family to Italy, France and Spain for two weeks. It has been an amazing journey and God surely came and stirred a few things in my heart. Going beyond the borders of my ordinary daily routine always gets me going on a tangent of how creative God is and how He placed those qualities in us. Mostly I am just amazed at how beautifully He puzzles things together.
As some of you know I have been married for only a year now, believe me there is a lot that can happen in a years time, but sometimes, something really big can be released in little bits at a time. During our holiday in these beautiful countries God came very gently and opened my eyes for something that have not yet happened since I have married Martus. It was the first time traveling with my parents as a married couple and my brother and his wife also went with. Three different couples, having their own opinions, likes and personalities. God came to brag with His unique designs, us. It’s funny how sometimes you miss these small things that sit right in front of you. For some reason I started reflecting on how different we all are, and who I would like to be standing on my own as, Simone. I had to ask myself , ” Are you still living as the child from her parents standards and opinions or are you standing separated from them with your husband having your own opinions and standards?” This question shook me a bit and as the holiday developed forth I kept on seeing the differences in who I am to who I want to be.
It started affecting my relationship with God, I realized that I pretend way to much in front of the one person that can see the pretense. I had these funny ideas sometimes that I have to sit at the feet of Jesus and read my Bible everyday. And if I dare skip one day I would feel guilty as hell. We all know this one, religion. God came to show me that coming to sit at His feet every morning is not who I am, I am doing this through a standard set from a stereo typical way of speaking to God. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying that doing this is wrong, there comes times we have a desire in doing this. The thing God was trying to say to me is just be yourself in front of me, don’t force yourself in talking to me everyday. Yes, He desires relationship with us, but each one of us are different. Talking to Him every morning for a hour, to be honest, becomes routine and boring to me. I love talking to God through out the day, I love recognizing Him in the beauty of the day and in the things I come across as the day develops. I adore speaking to Him in that manner, it never feels like effort. It released me from religion and made me true to who I am and how unique and special my relationship is with the Lord.
Maybe I am not making sense to anybody, but hopefully there is someone that now feels he or she is not the only one that felt this way. Getting married at a young age has a lot of positives, but it also brings forth other challenges, and this being one of them. I love my parents so much and as simple as this seems when you come face to face with the reality of it, it can be a bit daunting. Thank God for His security and trust, to know that He is the one guiding me and that I sit right in the center of His palm protected in His love. God so beautifully came and said to me it is now time, it’s time to make the shift from your parents to who you are on your own and as the wife of your husband. And the strange thing is I was ready to do it, if it would have been a month earlier I would have struggled in making the change. We will always carry a part of our parents in us, as it is in our DNA, I am not saying to shove them out of the way, it’s about finding who you are. Sometimes we just have to stop worrying and start letting it go and let it happen in it’s own time. It is when we start forcing things that we don’t deal with things properly. One would think that the moment you get married you have to be transformed immediately. My opinion is that let things happen naturally. Don’t force it just let it develop in it’s own time. By doing this you deal with your emotions and fears.
God is so gentle, and such an amazing Father, He just handles these things in a calm and relaxed manner, making you feel safe and sure of what you should do and happy to do it. For all the newlyweds, don’t let people force you into the things that sometimes takes time, don’t let them determine your decisions rather let God guide you in the right direction. Let His gentle voice be the one that stirs your heart and make you see things differently.
*Glory to God for His Fatherly guidance.
God is great, is He not amazing? The truth, the way and the life. If God is the truth why do we listen to others and not to Him. I have come to notice that people tend to rely on people and not on God. We are more likely to look at people’s answers instead of relying on the character of God. I do understand and as I mentioned in a previous blog post that we will never fully understand God, but I truly believe that God is the same yesterday, today and for all eternity. So why do we then sometimes mistake the things people tell us for who God really is?
To me there is always an easy way to look at things, there is a right way and a wrong way, you either do it, or you don’t. So why do we sometimes prefer testing how far we can reach into the grey area, because we are not 100 percent sure if it is wrong or right. This is where I believe our generation has made massive compromising decisions to what they do. Trying to test how far they can go before they actually know it’s wrong. We try and complicate things too much in life. That is why I don’t like the grey area, it creates confusion. If we look at God, what is His example? He is good and Satan is evil. He is light and Satan is darkness, He is the way to life and Satan is the way to death. There are only two choices to make, the wrong one…or the right one. Ok, I know, we don’t always know what the right thing is, but if you don’t know if it is right why don’t you just leave it, why do you have to go and see how far you can go to make sure if it is wrong. We have to have confidence in our choices and that they reflect God 100 percent.
Be careful to what you receive from people. Don’t always agree with them, ponder and meditate on what they said, before you form your own decision. Reflect it back on God’s word and His character to see if it corresponds with who God is. As I said we will not always know the right answer, but we can never doubt God, for He is the same yesterday, today an for all eternity. God will not lead you into something for you to sin. He will lead you into things that will make you prosper and flourish.
It all comes back to your relationship with God. You have to spend time with Him and in His word to know the truth and then respond to the truth. The better you know Him the less confused you will become and the more confidence you will gain in who God is. God is so good, and all that He does is good. So don’t let people and situations mislead you to whom God is. When bad things happen and people link it back to God, it’s not God, because God is good, He is light and in Him there is no darkness, He is not the designer of evil and sin, He is the one that brings life, freedom and peace.
There is a need for change in the leaders we are generating, we need leaders sold out for who God is and what He teaches us in His word. We need to raise a generation that is ready to surrender everything no matter what the cost. We should start living the true example of Jesus. And the best way of doing this is to know The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. His word teaches us that the people shall perish because of a lack of knowledge, we need to know God so that we know how to be like Him. To know when people talk a load of rubbish, to know when people are setting the wrong example of who God is. Get to know God, so that your reaction can be one of a Godly lifestyle. Don’t just take what people are teaching or telling you, but ask God what does He think and compare it to who God is and to what His character is like. To put this blog post into a one liner, don’t feed from people, feed from God.
* Glory to God for being the same yesterday, today and for all eternity.
I can say that I have been extremely busy the past couple of weeks, but that would only be like buying a poster of Mona Lisa and then adding Leonardo’s signature yourself. So to be brutally honest, I have been in quite a bad space. I keep on getting to a point where I am not sure what I am doing with my life, and whether I am following God’s direction. My DNA speaks the language of perfection, so everything inside of me just wants to do the will of God. I have been jumping around like a bee going from one flower to another. Trying different things, feeling that God opens the door and that I should move through it. So a week back I decided to again move on from something I have started, the strange thing is that the night before I was confronted with a decision I prayed that God would just show me the way. And then the next day it so happens that I knew what God wanted me to do. The thing is jumping around like this sometimes gets to you, and starts to mess around with your head.
I reflect back on the choices I have made and I start to question myself if the decision I have made in the beginning by taking the opportunity was the right choice. I start questioning if I was hearing God, or if it was only me. I doubted myself and my relationship with God, what is my purpose, am I doing the right thing, why does everything feel so difficult. A lot of things went through my head. Then God spoke to me, telling me that what is life all about if we don’t make mistakes. How are we going to learn, if we don’t allow ourselves to try, how am I going to get to know what I like if I don’t attempt it. God encouraged me to not look down, but up, to not only see my feet, but to see the road in front of it. To look back and see the journey as good, and powerful, to enjoy the change and keep moving forward. Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:1-5
The thing most people look at when we talk about this scripture is that we should rejoice in our tribulation, yes we should, but there is something very powerful hidden here. God is teaching us that through FAITH we have access to GRACE, we should believe in Him, believe that He is truth and life and in control, through believing you have access to His grace. The grace that will allow you to make mistakes and pick you up when you fall. So now that we have faith, we receive the grace, and the grace then gives us hope and then we can glorify God. Are you following me? If you have faith, when it seems like your future and purpose in life has been shut down, and closed off, you should believe that God is the creator of the universe the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end, He was, is and always will be the same, ready to help you, guide you and comfort you. Having the faith, gives you access to the grace, the grace which all things work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8: 28. The grace that allows us to make mistakes, but then still end up somewhere amazing. The grace allows us to fall and get back up. Now through the grace you then have hope, and who is hope…the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the hope inside of you, the one encouraging you, guiding you and insuring you that through faith, you have grace and through the grace you have hope so why are you sad? There is HOPE, just glorify God, for giving you faith, grace and Hope.
If you the read on, you will also see that God builds your perseverance, strength and character through this process. You don’t only have to rejoice in God’s awesomeness, but also in the fact that He is teaching you incredible gifts that will only cause His purpose for your life to flourish. So what am I getting at, to keep it simple, DON’T GIVE UP!! God is there, have faith, you will find the way, through His grace, and there is hope, just listen to the Holy Spirit.
So get back up, look ahead, don’t look down, keep on moving, facing His presence and listening to the Hope inside of you. I know you can, you know you can and most important God knows you can.
Glory to His name for giving faith, grace and hope.
in His presence…
There is something so amazing when it comes to us as failing feet and how God can turn your weakness into something incredible. The past couple of days I felt weak and failing in the courage and strength God gave me. Then as I sat one morning in my bed God spoke to me saying, “This is what is so beautiful of My love for you, that when you are weary and weak I am ready to catch you and carry you to safety. But I have not made you weak and weary, I have not made you to fall into a pit of darkness and feel like there is no hope. No, I have made you to live through Me. I am the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end. When you live through Me your power will be secured and your strength will run on high. Don’t try to conquer things through your will, but allow Me to do it for you. Allow Me to fight your battles and set you on higher grounds.”
I then realized that we should live in His presence, that your natural reaction should be to ask His opinion and His guidance. When we start living in His presence it will take a whole lot more for us to become weak and weary. And when unexpected things happen we will know that nothing is too big for God and that He is with us every step of the way, so in conclusion, nothing then is to big for us to handle, we are not in control but God is. We do play a big part in this, we have to hear His voice and respond to His guidance. How do you get to hear His voice and know what to do? When you are living in His presence and interacting with Him every step of the way. When your natural reaction becomes to do nothing before you have not heard from God. The more you interact with God and build your relationship with Him the clearer His voice will become. This is something I had to ask myself, am I really living in His presence, am I walking under His cloud. I had to reflect on my everyday life and look at how much of God do I see in it. The things you do everyday are they including or excluding God. By this I don’t just mean that the things we do should be pure, but also are you interacting with God 24/7. When you are enjoying a song do you tell Him, when you see something funny do you share it with Him. We should be so busy and in conversation with God, that when things become a little haywire, we know God is there, we know He is in control. We know that He is ready to answer our questions and set us to rest. Our intimacy with God should be at such an intense level that you always respond through Him and that everything you do is in His perfect will.
When people are in ministry they catch fire and burn out. One of the reasons is that they try to do things through their own power and don’t allow God to run the ministry, but trying to build it in their own strength. God is not far away sitting on His thrown enjoying some iced tea. No, He is waiting for you to interact with Him, He desires for you to build relationship with Him. You don’t always have to be alone and in a quiet place to hear His voice and have a conversation with Him. Yes, sure sometimes we need that, but we should carry Jesus wherever we go. Think of it like this, when you walk out of the house you will always put on your clothing, it’s the normal thing to do, it is something you have to do, you have to carry your clothing on your back every day and I am pretty sure you are happy to. I know I would not prefer walking around naked. So this is how we should carry Jesus. He should be like your clothing, you can not leave the house without Him. He becomes the normal “thing”, the everyday “thing” you can not exist without. Not having clothes makes it impossible to go out into the day and conquer things, or to build your business. So, not having Jesus with you should become impossible for you to function through a normal daily routine. Jesus should become your normal way of living, it should not be a strange thing when you ask His opinion on buying clothing, or what to make for supper. In these simple things your intimacy with God grows to great levels. When you start with the small things it will grow and soon you will realize that you are asking His guidance in everything you do. God is not just a part of our lives, but He is our lives, and we should start learning to make Him part of it and not contain Him to church, small group or an event. God wants to give you bigger and greater things what He has in store for us will blow our tiny minds, but we should be willing to listen and then be obedient to His voice.
So ask yourself are you daily living in God’s presence?
*Glory to God for being there every step of the way.
let it go…
How are we affected by the mistakes people make? Does it concern you? Is it affecting your way of thinking? Are you judging someone? I came to realize that we focus so much on what people do wrong and right that when they make a mistake our whole world is shaken. I see it in church so often and daily I make this mistake. One thing I have to add is that it’s not always our mistake, the person you are idolising sets the stage for you to idolise them. When in leadership I strongly believe that you have to be so busy equipping the people around you that they are not caught up in all your works, but they are actually growing spiritually where they can step-up to your plate.
So let’s move back to us, we play a big part in this, as we do make the decisions of our own lives and we will be held accountable for the decisions we’ve made. The mistake we make when looking at pastor’s, apostles or any type of leader, is that we immediately put them on a pedestal. And our first thought is that there is nothing they do wrong and that they are so amazing. Yes, they are amazing, but don’t forget they are human, born in sin and they are definitely not Jesus. He was the only perfect and spotless one. These people have the spotlight, and as God said in his words they will be more critically judged, but they are still only human. When leaders in and around your life make a mistake and are transparent about it, should we not appreciate them more rather than bad mouthing them? When they make a mistake we become so devastated, why? Probably because we have put them on the top shelf, we idolise them without even realizing it. When these people make mistakes it should not affect us it should encourage us that we are just as they capable of these things and that they are human just as we are. God is the only one who will never let you down, who will never step back from what His word says and He will always be the only one who is spotless and perfect.
So let’s respect the leaders above us and honour them for their diligence, but let us not mistake them for God. Let’s not make them to be perfect for there is no man who can be perfected. My husband always say that when you listen to a sermon or watch a teaching, don’t focus on the negative, but strip it down to the positive and learn from that, if you think about how many times in your life have you not said things you regret. Or how many times have you not changed your opinion about things? There are times when God gives you the revelation about something and your way of looking at it changes to how it use to be. So why are we making it impossible for leaders to make this mistake, God is working with each one of us, shaping us, moulding us and changing our way of thinking. Let’s be gracious to others and that God is also walking an amazing journey with them as He is with you. Again I will say these pastor’s, apostles and leaders are only human and surely they came to a point where they change their mind about certain things they have said. So why do we hold on so tightly onto those things we don’t agree with, just let it go and look at the fruit that person produces, you can never argue with the fruit of someone’s life.
In a nutshell: Focus only on the positive and keep God at the top of you shelf.
* Glory to God for being spotless and perfect.
Do we really know the love of God? Do we understand the sacrifice He made for us? These past couple of weeks I really struggled with a few questions about God. It got me thinking and praying and seeking God for answers. And I realized that this is what faith is all about. If we know everything then what is there to have faith about? The fact is that we as human beings don’t have all the answers and will never understand things with our human minds. God has opened my eyes to see what His love is all about. The love He has for His people, all His people the good ones and the bad ones.
Let me clear this out, we live in a sinful world, where satan reigns and where people have a free will. God did not make us robots. He gave us a free will, so that we can chose the way for ourselves. Why do bad things happen, because people make bad decisions. Do I believe that God protects us, absolutely the one thing I don’t hesitate is that God loves me 100 percent and that He does not pleasure watching us endure pain or suffering. The scripture talks about the narrow way and that it would not be easy. To become a Christian is not going to make your life easy to be real honest it is probably going to become more intense. Why? Because you become a threat to satan and he will do every thing in his power to destroy you. The thing we should remember is that through the turmoil God is with us, with or without God bad things are going to happen. How much better if you have God with you when you go through them. I know that in those bad times I always think to myself what would I have done if I did not have God in my life, how would I have endured those things. Satan tries to scare us from this world and all the bad things in it. Hettie Britz talks about satan throwing a black tablecloth over a table and telling us that underneath that table is your worst nightmare. You will never be able to overcome it, you will never be able to endure or receive healing for it. It will destroy you. Guys, how far from the truth is this? God has already overcome this world, David talks about it in Psalm 23: 1-5, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
We should not be scared of what can happen to us for God has our salvation and our spirit tightly wrapped in His hand, if we understand that whatever might happen to us here on earth can’t do anything to our salvation and to our spirit then there is nothing to fear about. Then your flesh becomes only a thing you use to do His great works. The fact that you can get hurt and bruised is not a factor to you, because you know that God has overcome all these lies satan tries to tell .Why are we scared when the time on earth is only temporary. If something bad happens to us God will bring the healing and He will restore you and you will not be broken. We should not fear the things satan can do to us, for God has conquered him and that God lives in us. The thing is, are we willing to sacrifice ourselves? I know this is a hectic statement to make, but this is just how I felt when God gave me this revelation. That if I have to endure the bad things for someone else to receive Christ then so be it, if my flesh has to take a knock for His kingdom to grow bigger then I will take it. The flesh is only a time-capsule we live in. Soon the flesh will be something of the past and the lives God has won through you will be the reward you receive. This is when we truly love people when we are willing to sacrifice things for them to receive the salvation.
God is too big for us to wrap our tiny minds around Him, so stop asking too many questions and just believe that everything that happens in life God will use for good, that God loves us and that His heart is to give us the best. That we will never fully understand how things work we should just have faith that God is good and that He is light and in Him there is no darkness.
*Glory, glory, glory for He is absolutely amazing.
I heard someone say, would the church feel it if you left them? This question moved me, for if we look at what the scripture says, it talks about the body and that each one of us is a part of this wonderful body. The significance of the body, is that God created our bodies in a certain way, we need every single part of our body to function successfully. That is why when you loose one of your toes you would have a limp in your walk, which might not be a major defect, but it would surely bother you. Who is the toe? You are. You might even be the head or the leg, the fact is that you should be part of the body in a way that when the body looses you the effect is damaging. As the bride we should be perfect every part of the body should be in place.
Ask yourself the question, when you walk out of your church tomorrow, will they feel your absence? If they won’t, then you have a problem my dear, for you are not part of the body, you are just enjoying the body and what it is doing. It’s like buying yourself a piece of cake, one that you have been longing for, and then you watch your friends indulge in it. That is not fair, you should be able to indulge in that piece of cake too. How do you do that? By being willing, get yourself involved in church, start something, do something. Maybe you are one of the guys who loves to moan about everything instead of changing what you are moaning about. If you see a problem, don’t talk about it, fix it. Become active in your body.
Then going beyond the building, the church is not set between four walls and a ceiling, but it’s you. If you are the toe, then you are toe, then when you walk out of the building you can’t just be nothing, because who is going to be the toe. You are part of this amazing body, a body so strong and majestic that nothing can come against it. Become a part of the bride the beautiful bride that will see her Bridegroom come down on His white horse. Don’t you have a desire to be part of that amazing picture. I surely do. May this motivate you to be so involved in the body that your absence would not be a defect, but rather an improvement to where to body will be going.
*Glory to His name for being the perfect Bridegroom.
This is something we tend to forget to do when we give our life to Christ. There is so much power in this, and we should take it seriously. Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” When we renew our mind we replace what we had with who God is and what He would do. You can’t decide where you want to accept change and where not, but it is renewing ALL of who you are. I am not saying that you should change your personality, but you should change your way of thinking and reacting. What is so beautiful about this is that when you truly have renewed your mind, hearing God’s voice and following His will becomes easy. We don’t have to wait for God to come and show us the way, but rather we allow God to move through us and we then see the way.
The scripture I just talked about explains renewing your mind very clearly. It says that we should not conform to the pattern of this world. What does that mean? It is to not be normal, to not follow the average Jo, but to strive to become just like Christ. Your way of thinking and reacting should be obvious to who you follow. Curry Blake told a story of how he was in his hotel room and when he walked past the television he saw a woman weeping in the courtroom. His immediate reaction was to put his hand out and pray for her. After he prayed he realized that this TV show was recorded and that it was not running live. At that moment he felt really stupid and then the Lord spoke to him and said that he should not be ashamed for his mind has been renewed. Why is that? Instead of thinking about what the person’s reaction would be, or even the fact that the show is recorded, Curry reacted in a Godly way. His reflex was to pray for this woman because she was weeping. That story inspired me so much, because we should not always think ourselves into what the reaction would be, but instead react towards the problem. Curry’s mind was renewed because he reacted straight from God’s heart. That is renewal of the mind, we start thinking like Christ, which will cause us to react like Christ. Another scripture that also explains this beautifully is Colossians 3:10, “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.” This takes practice and you have to focus on the fact that your ways should be different, have you noticed that the scripture says that “as you learn to know your Creator”, the more you get to know Christ and read the Bible the better understanding you will have on how to react towards things. This definitely motivates me to read my Bible more and build my relationship with Christ. The one thing I can remember of when I gave my life to Christ, is the fact that I gave my LIFE to Him. This indicates that you put your ways and will down and you pick His will and ways up. Let’s strive to become just like Christ and let that change our way of thinking and reacting, causing us to renew our minds.

God has called us to be righteous. It stands in the word that righteousness and justice is the foundation of His thrown. We are called to be a righteous nation, in Proverbs 14 : 34 it says, righteousness exalts a nation. If God is in us then righteousness lives inside of us, now that He lives in us, we should start acting like it, it should not stop us to strive to become just like Jesus. Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. There is a blessing in being righteous. For if you walk in righteousness God will pour His blessing down on you. Let’s just look at two major examples of righteousness. Two men who God found righteous. Noah, in His whole generation, and that generation did not only exist of a few people, but of thousands. God only saw one person to be righteous in front of Him, Noah. Genesis 7: 1, Then the Lord said to Noah, Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. This is a big deal. God could only find one man that would be faithful towards Him. Among thousands of people only one was good enough. What about Abraham. God chose him to be the father of many nations. Why Abraham? Genesis 15: 6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. God chose Abraham, because he was righteous before God. These are only two examples of two great men who made a mayor impact in our existence. Men that teach us how we should react towards God’s instruction.
What is the meaning of the word righteousness? It is an attribute that implies that a person’s actions are justified and can have the connotation that the person has been “judged” or “reckoned” as leading a life that is pleasing to God. If you look at your life, does it proclaim righteousness? Can God look at you and say I choose you, for I see you are righteous. Can He trust you to do His work? Proverbs 21:21 says, “He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor. Another verse that is difficult to hear, but hey it is the word and we should react towards it. 1 John 3:10 Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God. This is hectic people, don’t justify it with clever words, this is the word of God, God chose to add this specific part for a reason, for us to act on it. We should be righteous for God, our lives should be a example of righteousness. This is part of our armor, the breastplate of righteousness, we carry it, we use it against the enemy, we fight with righteousness how amazing is that. Isaiah prophesied about when Jesus came down from His thrown to become man, that righteousness shall be the belt of His loins. This is so significant, when I read the Bible it hits me from all angles, no matter where I read in the scriptures there would be a trace of righteousness.
What is the goal? To follow in God’s footsteps. To follow His example and His word, to be a righteous follower so that God can look at me and say, I choose you to go and do my work, for you are righteous among the nations. So ask yourselves, am I righteous before God? Do I hunger and thirst after righteousness?
* Glory to God for His perfect righteousness.
Warrior- They deliver attacks with brutal efficiency and raw strength.
I am a warrior I fight this battle in faith, I will climb the highest mountain and swim the deepest sea. With joy I run into darkness and I clear the path with love. I will not be defeated, for I know the reward that is set before me. I am chosen. Chosen for a specific task, different to the rest, unique in it’s kind. My aim is victory and where I go darkness will flee. There will be no place for them to hide, the light will expose them and burn them to death. Pain won’t discourage me, it will motivate my love to endure and see the reward I have been fighting for. I am a warrior. I fight for God’s Kingdom, I fight for love, I fight to see His glory come down and bring freedom to this nation. I am a warrior. I wear the armor of life and truth. If I fall He picks me up, when victory looks impossible He clears the way. If God is for me who can be against me. The joy of the Lord is my strength, for I will walk through the darkest valley and He will be beside me. He will prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. I laugh at fear and sing at anxiety. So put on your sword, O mighty warrior! You are so glorious, so majestic! In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice. Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds!. I am a warrior.
John 8:12 I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.
Isiah 41:2-4 Who gives this man victory over many nations and permits him to trample their kings underfoot? With his sword, he reduces armies to dust. With his bow, he scatters them like chaff before the wind. He chases them away and goes on safely, though he is walking over unfamiliar ground. Who has done such mighty deeds, summoning each new generation from the beginning of time? It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last. I alone am he.
*Glory to His name for His light.
Becoming like Him. It is not always easy, but it’s always worth it. If we look at God’s character we see a friendly, loving and determined figure. My husband says that we have to relate with God as we relate with our father on earth. For when you grow up your dad teaches you what is wrong and right, they teach you morals and how to handle certain situations. After getting it wrong the first few times you become aware what the right thing is and from there it becomes part of your daily life. Our relationship with God should be the same. We don’t always have to wait for a vision or word to know what to do, God tells us a lot of things in His word, things we don’t have to ask Him again. When it comes to making decisions, you most of the time know the right answer, but it is so challenging to make it, that you would rather wait on God just to make 100% sure that this is what He wants. Imagine you have to go and ask your father every time you say thank you, if you really should say thank you, don’t you think after a few times this can become quite annoying.
If the word tells us, lay hands on the sick, feed the poor, be kind, love one another, obey your parents and the list can go on forever. Why do we sometimes have to wait for a strong word, vision or confirmation to confirm what we already know. If we know the answer why are we still searching. We have to start reading the word and make it come alive, so others can see who God is. When we read something we have to feed it into our minds and then into our hearts, if you only add it into your mind and not your heart, you are not allowing the word to change you. Think about it like this, the word you read is the food and the deeds flowing from it is you activity. When you only eat without being active you become fat and unhealthy, when you eat and you are active you have a healthy body. It’s the same with reading the word, are you feeding yourself with this amazing food, but not allowing it to move you. And you don’t always have to make it so challenging, don’t bind yourself to an outreach, but try things you like to do. I love receiving flowers so I would like to buy hundreds and give them to the woman on the street. This is not difficult, I can even start by just buying one bunch. The idea is to make these things part of your daily living, as you see some one begging at your window, why not smile and ask them how they are. It is easy and true to the word that say we should be kind. Let’s start reading the word, with the motivation for it to change you, move you and make you become just like Him
*Glory to His name for His love and kindness.
This post is about something that is actually quite the thing to do in church. Again I will say that I am not perfect and I definitely make this mistake a lot, but someone has to say something with the hope that it will change people’s mindset. How many times do we listen to a sermon, teaching or sing along to a song and what we are nodding, singing along, or just agreeing to is not what we do when we walk out the door. In all honesty is that not being fake? You sitting in church where they are teaching on laying hands on people and you’re like, “preach it brother”, nodding and shouting “Amen!”. And then you walk out of the service past this guy in a wheel chair, and you just…walk. Am I making sense, inside of the building you are completely for Jesus, who He is, what He is doing and what you should do about it. The moment you walk out of the building, you become scared, anxious and caught up in your comfort zone. The church is not a building, you are the church. In one of my previous posts I talked about reading a book “Erasing Hell”, by Francis Chan. I realized how scary the thought may be if Jesus came tomorrow, I am 100% sure that I would regret not doing enough, while on earth. I know I would wish to come back and freak more people out so the veil of deception could be lifted from their eyes and that they could see, the Truth.
Just imagine this right. You go to bed tonight and in the middle of the night you awake from a loud noise. The earth starts shaking and you see through your window a bright light coming from the heavens. You see people shooting up into the sky and come to the conclusion that it is the rapture. The next moment you are shooting up into the air and you see your brother staying behind, knowing he is not saved. I bet you would ,in that moment, feel if only you were a bit more radical and less scared of what other would think of you, for then what seemed to be a fantasy, becomes a reality. We should not wait for this day, but have faith and know that one day all will see His glory. Having this conversation with one of my friends, she said she feels like shaking her parents and brother and tell everyone at work, who God is and that He is coming soon, and we should be ready. This is exactly what we should do, hell is not just a fire pit. It is a place where you will for the rest of your life be with the thought that you had a free choice and if only you chose God you would not be there. It would be a place where there is no God, no presence or no comfort of the Holy spirit. It is not only going to be painful, but extremely lonely, sad and depressing. God is good, He desires for us to choose Him so that we can have eternal life, with Him. The next time you nod your head to what someone is saying, or sing along to the latest christian song, ask yourself if you really mean what you are singing and if what this guy is teaching is going to change you, or are you just going to pretend it is moving you, and react otherwise. Don’t let your words be empty, they should be pouring and releasing how amazing God is and this can only happen when what you hear causes you to do something about it.
James 3:26. Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.
*Glory to God for His faithfulness.
In the midst of the desert there is life.
You know that feeling when life seems too much to handle, or when you feel you are putting so much work into something, but there is no release, no breakthrough. It could be that God is doing something or maybe you are on the edge to see His glory fall upon you. God has a plan and His plans are to prosper you, to bring forth life. We have a simple task and that is to be obedient. When we walk in His will and ask His guidance we will step on scorpions and snakes and not be harmed. I am trying to tell you that when you are in a bad space at times, or when you feel there is no answer to your miseries, God has the answer. He is overflowing with excitement of what is to come and how His glory is going to be poured down on you. Why is He excited about that? Because then we can share with people how God made the impossible, possible.
Let’s look at when Gideon had to go into battle. Just think about how he must have felt going into this huge fight. There must have been a moment where he felt a little anxious and kind of depressed, how many times did he not ask God for a sign just to make sure he is doing he right thing. He came to his senses and realized that God is faithful and true to His word. He was ready to fight a battle with 300 men versus, camels, so many they looked like grains of sand against the seashore. God created that environment to show His glory, for there would have been no way that they could have defeated the Midianites if they did not have God on their side. Or what about when David was obedient by fighting Goliath. He must have been scared to the bone, but God was faithful. God’s glory manifested through such a small guy like David defeating Goliath, the strongest and biggest giant. Are you seeing what I am saying? Sometimes we just have to trust God and when it looks dark and difficult we should keep on hoping and let God move so people can see His glory and fall to their knees and worship this almighty King. When we feel down and under like there is no way out, put your faith in Him and believe that He will show you the way and that it would be glorious. The joy of the Lord is our strength. For in the midst of the desert there is life.
*Glory to Him, for He is glorious.
Fit for the Kingdom.
We are running. Running the race for victory. The question is whether you are fit enough for this race? Last weekend I attended a conference and we had jam packed sessions of teachings and worship. So when I went to my local church on the Sunday morning and found myself in the midst of worship and realized I don’t have enough strength to keep my arms in the air. Worshiping for the whole weekend was just too much for them. Then a thought hit me, are we fit enough for heaven? I know if we get theologically correct that we won’t be having our physical bodies and we won’t be feeling any pain or discomfort in heaven, but Jesus said we should bring heaven to earth, right? So I just knew I am not pursuing God enough, I am not seeking His face enough, I want to be able to worship the whole week and not feel any discomfort. I want to be so ready when He is coming down on His white Horse to come rescue us and take us home. I want to make Him proud and put a lot of work into worshiping this amazing King and loving Father. To seek His face day in and out, for I know the reward will be so define.
There is another thing that we should remember and that is that if you look at your life and the things you are doing, if you look at who you are, do you see yourself as a kingdom kid? You should feel like you are so fit to step into that heavenly place and so ready to go and delight in Him. We should be so ready guys, I am currently reading a book by Francis Chan called ‘Erasing Hell’. This book really brings forth the reality of hell and that we should be saving people left and right, building relationships with people and discipling them. So the question you should ask yourself is, are you fit? Are you fit enough to run this race, to endure the pain and suffering to get to the ultimate prize. God says in His word, Luke 9:62, “Anyone who puts their hand to the plough and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God. So let’s get onto our worship bikes, put on our Godphones and bring glory to His name. Let’s pursue God with all that we’ve got.
*Glory to Him for eternal life.
Fade. This word has two meanings to me when it comes to Christianity. Either fading away from God, or every idol in your life fading away. Option two for me thank you! Option one creeps in slowly and not very obviously. You start spending more time in worldly things and before you know, it diminishes your time with God, and people are oblivious to the fact that you are no longer pressing in with God. Slowly but surely you are sliding down into a pit where you are in so deep it almost feels it’s impossible to get back. This place is so dangerous and people get stuck in it so quickly. One thing to remember is that God never steps back, His hand is always reaching out to you. There is no other god that spreads the table for you and awaits your arrival, Jesus is the only one that will come down from His thrown where He is glorified every day and become a nobody, one who is mocked and crucified for those who put Him there.
He came in on a donkey ready to die, but His coming back on His horse and fighting for life, eternal life.
If we then look at option two, this is the one that stirred my spirit, for every other lover to fade away. Every idol in your life, be it food, music, sports or maybe even your husband or parents to just let it wither away. I love how Shaun Feucht sings about this very thing, in such a calm and relaxing tone. He makes it seem so easy to just let it fade… let it go. God said draw near to Me and I will draw near to you. What does that mean, to surrender everything that is standing between you and God. To seek God in all you do, to lay down your life completely, not only when you go to church. So when you walk into a club, pub or classroom you put God on a shelf telling Him, just wait here I’ll be back soon, just quickly need to do some things that will not fit into a Godly lifestyle, so just let me finish here and then I will get back to my christian ways. WHAT?? This is lukewarm people! You can not stand with one foot in His kingdom and another in the world, you are in or out. God says you are either for me or against me, black or white. You either want to follow Christ and His lifestyle or you don’t. To surrender your life to Christ is easy , however to maintain it is challenging, for it brings forth difficult decisions and choices. When you have made the right one He always rewards, honors and appreciates you. He delights in those decisions you make and stands proud like a dad who’s son just made the first team. God is so good and he loves us so much the least we can do is by thanking Him with what we do.
Let every other lover just fade away.
*Thank you Lord for spreading such a scrumptious table.
Made in His image.
Yesterday I had a discussion with a few people about how God created us and I just realized that we don’t understand God’s character. And something that we have to understand is God’s father heart, for if you did not realize the God who created all of the earth and heaven, He is your Father. Sometimes we make Him out as someone way up in the sky that only gives out orders, when He actually is there every step of the way and when you are in your deepest darkest place, He is with you.
There is a lot of speculation around a lot of things, why do people have miscarages, why are babies born abnormal, why do children get hurt and woman get raped. Guess what I don’t know the answer to all these questions, but I am sure actually I am more than sure I am 100% confident that God did not create or just allow it.
This statement sits so close to my heart because I know my Father and I know His character and I know that He will never create, or just allow these things. My God the Father is extremely good and only good, there is not a small grain or molecule of bad in Him. I always think to myself what my earthly father would say in these circumstance, for example would your dad just allow you to get raped or would your dad would want you to be born abnormal. No, there is no way so how can a earthly figure even be compared to God, He is even more pure and good than your earthly father. Man people, God is so good we can not even think these things, even if we don’t have these answers He is still good and that these things are not from Him.
Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
* I love you my heavenly Father.
